For the last couple of months my skin has been the best it has ever been. So much so that I’ve actually received compliments on my clear complexion. For me, who has been battling with acne ever since my teenage years and well into adult life, receiving compliments on how good my skin looks is a huge deal. But good things hardly last, right!?
After a long time, and almost a year of nearly perfect skin, my skin broke out and I’m not sure exactly why. I was following the same skin routine for the last year. My diet was the same. Maybe it was stress or hormonal. But whatever it was I wasn’t too worried, because I knew exactly how to deal with my out of control skin. Within a week I got my skin back to “normal”. The acne scars took a little longer to fade, but I’m still very happy with my fast acne eliminating routine, which I am about to share with you all.
Most of my acne routine involves spot treatment. As soon as I see the first signs of a pimple, I reach for my go to product: Mario Badescu’s Drying Lotion. I apply this to the pimple and keep it on overnight. It works so well that almost instantaneously you will see the difference in the inflammation, redness and size of the pimple.
During the day, while working, sitting in the car waiting for the light to change to green, watching T.V., or frankly whenever and wherever I get a few minutes, I whip out my Light Therapy Acne Spot Treatment pen by Neutrogena. The red and blue lights work to combat two of the major factors that contribute to acne: bacteria and inflammation. to reduce breakouts without flaking or burning. It is easy-to-use, and the portable design allows for acne treatment anytime-anywhere! And best of all it is super affordable.
After three days of using Mario Badescu’s Drying Lotion and Neutrogena’s Light Therapy Acne Spot Treatment pen, my acne was gone. Yes, you read correctly, three days! The only indication of my break out were scars, mainly from me picking at my skin and some hyperpigmentation.
To clear my skin of the scars I routinely Derma-roll, once every two weeks with a 1mm needle size derma roller. Derma-rolling should only be done when there is no active acne, as you don’t want to push the bacteria deeper into the skin. That is why I waited till my acne resolved.
These steps I followed in addition to my daily skin care routine of cleansing and moisturizing after waking up and before going to bed. By the end of the week my skin was acne free and most of the scars had disappeared. See my 7-day skin transformation for yourself.
